Puppies!

Look at the cute puppies! Sold on the sidewalk. I saw her a couple weeks ago but figured it must have been because her dogs must have just had a litter. Nope, here every week? Crazy.

Macaroon

Ah macaroon, from Dallayou! The last time I had these they were in the Paris, right by the Sorbonne. So I was delighted to see them here in Busan. They cost 2000won, about $1.60 each. They tasted...........not good, bad enough that I don't recommend them and will not buy it ever again..(unless it's Dallayou in Paris). The shell had a good texture, bland flavor and the center, aerated and fluffy kinda like a creme. lame! Don't they understand that it is the rich full flavor that makes a macaroon!
There was another pastry place right next to it that had some, but I was too dejected to try, maybe if I'm desperate one of these days I will.

failed shopping

So went shopping for two days trying to find something for the little rugrats. Apparently, no offense to this place but there really isn't anything interesting. Plenty of clothes and stuff for adults but the kid toys are limited. Seems like the preferred items are either Japanese or American brands. I can get that stuff back home and Japanese stuff I'll get in Japan. Gotta ask around for good Korean quality gifts and toys.
Besides that check out the largest department store in the world (guiness record), the indoor skate rink, its got a kids academy and move theatre too.

Gamjatang

I've had Korean BBQ just about once a week or so. My fav thing to eat is Gamjatang. Its pork bone soup. Think its the backbone, its super soft and they have some potatoes in it. Which is my favorite vegetable. haha. Check out the apron they provide, it gets messy.

Squid clip

Here is a clip of live squid and some odd sea creature. I figure my niece and nephews will get a kick out of it. They serve this stuff everywhere.

Sauna food

After a good sweat you can't beat delicious BBQ pork! Right on the sauna premises there is a restaurant where they use local charcoal and local pig. It was really good. They also had open charcoal pits where people bring sweet potatoes and corn and roast'em. We brought a bunch of sweet potatoes and before we left we had a nice carb snack. Yum. Check out the cool wood stump stools, open air seating, old drunk guys playing go-stop and charcoal pit where they cook the food.

Sauna by Tongdosa

So this was the first sauna I have ever been to. It was a nice drive to the countryside to this traditional Korean sauna. When we arrived a bus load of old ladies arrived. You know it's for reals when that happens. You check in, get changed into orange PJ type clothes and then sweat. The rooms are made of stone and mud and heated up using local charcoal. They then take the charcoal out and let people in, apparently it stays warm for a couple days. Each of the rooms are a different temperature, the hottest room I couldn't last more than 30 seconds felt like I was getting roasted.

Tuna Restaurant - Hadan

Ate at a tuna restaurant. Yes, all they serve is tuna. Tuna sashimi, tuna soup, smoke tuna and a tuna head! They serve the tuna head table side. Chef cuts the head up, takes the eye out, separates the meat. The eyeball is then chopped up and place in a pot with soju, where it melts and you drink it. The eyeball thickens the soju and makes it smoother, its pretty good. Hate to admit it, but too much tuna. haha. Not a bad problem to have.

Tongdosa Temple

The tower things apparently are grave stones for monks. They placethe remaining stone after the monks get cremated here.

Check out the kids fishing in the water, my cousins will appreciate this! ah, memories.

Water fountain and cool wood work for a building several hundred years old ~1645.

Tongdosa temple

Tongdosa temple north of Busan is my fav so far. Mountain location, a decent drive to avoid most tourist, old, lots of families having fun, clean and went right after sauna so I was relaxed to boot!
According to wiki: Tongdosa is often called "The temple without a Buddha" because it contains no outdoor statues of the Buddha, rather it is arranged around several stupas which contain Jajang's precious gifts, and reputedly, relics of the historical Buddha, including his robe, begging bowl, and a bone from his skull. Don't know about the last bit.

Yungdo part II

Check out the crazy location of the restaurant. They serve seafood on rocks seaside. Looks fun and sketchy and the same time. Being the lazy person, I took a ferry around the island and a train ride while other people old and young hiked. haha.

yungdo

Got to go to Yungdo this saturday. It's an island in Busan. Pretty much an extension to the city. Ended up at the park at the end of the island where a grip of people hike. They have these real cool restaurant along the beach where they serve fresh seafood they catch outside.
